micrometer collar slips on the cross slide screw

The dial on the compound's neighbor, the cross slide, spins free if I look at it wrong. Set screw is tight. The screw under the set screw isn't biting anything I can believe in. Numbers are a suggestion.

The flat on the sleeve is gone, so the set screw is tightening against a round and hoping. File a small flat. Then the screw has a place to sit. Tightening harder on a round just dents it and the dial still slips.

Flat filed. Dial stays where I put it. I checked by turning it like I was mad. It stayed. Good enough for a machine that isn't mine.
