leveling a logan on a slab, the floor thread was a 9A

Brother's Logan is on a slab, not a wood floor, so I'm not going to pretend the old 9A thread is the same machine. Two collars, eight inches apart. Front of the headstock collar is fat by about a thou. I have steel shims. I have not stacked them yet, because last time someone stacked them the story got worse.

One shim. The low foot is the one that lets the front get fat, usually the front headstock foot if the lathe is twisting that way. Cut again. Write both numbers. The 9A thread is the method. The bed length is the only thing that changed.

One shim under the front headstock foot. Collars agree within half a thou. I wrote it on the wall, which is his wall, and he can paint over it when he disagrees. He doesn't.
