file in the lathe, I know, I'm still asking

A thread I read said never file in the lathe. Another said a fine file is how you kiss off a tenth. I have a safe-edge file and a 9 inch and a part that's two tenths fat. Handles are on. Chuck key is not in the chuck. If the answer is still no, I'll bore it again and shut up.

Two tenths is a cut, not a file. Filing is how you make it oval and how you put grit in the bed. Left hand on the left, sleeves nowhere near the chuck, and even then I'd rather you took the cut. You already know which answer you wanted. Take the cut.

Took the cut. It's on size and still round. The file stays a file. I did want the other answer. Thanks for not giving it to me.
