power company and the 3hp that lies

The 3hp rotary I bought off a hay ad is not 3hp in any sense the power company respects. Lights dim, the neighbor's radio clicked, and I have been invited to 'talk about service size' which is a threat wearing a clipboard. The lathe itself is a 3/4 hp and was innocent. I started the big motor because I am weak.

Don't start it again until somebody who likes panels looks at the wire. Butte will let you run a lot of dumb things. Dimmed lights isn't one I poke.

That motor is somebody's compressor motor with the tag still dreaming. A lathe doesn't need it. Sell it to a person with a real service and a real compressor.

Sold it to a guy with a shop behind a real building. He knew what it was immediately and did not mock me for long. The radio next door has recovered. I have not told the neighbor why.
