compound screw, because buying one felt like losing

Cross slide is fine. Compound screw on the 10K is a worn thread with a flat on one side. A used one is sixty dollars and a week of mail. I'm single-pointing a new screw out of 1144 to see if I can. This is pride. I'm labeling it pride.

Label's right. Make it. Then if the nut is just as worn, you did the easy half. Check the nut before you congratulate the screw.

Screw is cut. Nut was worn in the same flat, which Ida called. Bored and threaded a new nut from bronze I was saving for a job that never showed. Compound has less wobble. Pride is now a parts pair. Cost me more than sixty if I count the nights, and I'm not going to.
