- how much backlash is just 'it's a lathe'
Mine is way more than an eighth and I still hold a thou. You get used to it.
- carbide again, different atlas, same argument
Mine doesn't chatter and it's the same insert. I think some of you want carbide to fail.
- rotary or a vfd, garage, 3hp that already lies
I ran a VFD on mine for a year off a regular outlet and it was fine. People overthink the grounding.

- insert keeps losing the corner on brass
CCMT that I use for everything, including 360 brass. It cuts great for a minute and then the corner is a crater. I figured brass was the ea…
- paint the lathe, or leave the chips in the history
Leak first, then. The paint can is going back on the shelf where it can age with dignity.
- paint the lathe, or leave the chips in the history
Thinking about stripping the Atlas and painting it the color it probably was. The current color is rust and a green that isn't a brand. It…
